3 Investment Agreements Worth JD5.2M Signed in Ma'an

Amman, Sep. 20 (Petra) -- Minister of Investment Tareq Abughazaleh on Sunday inspected investment projects in the Rawdah Industrial Zone, which are part of the Ma'an Development Company (MDC), and reviewed production, expansion plans and investors' needs.

According to a ministry statement, the visit saw the signing of agreements for 3 new investment projects in the Rawdah Industrial Zone, covering food industries, fluorine products and agricultural pesticides, and nitrogen fertilizers, with planned investments of about JD 5.2 million expected to create dozens of jobs.

During his tour, Abu Ghazaleh called for expanding investment across the governorates, supporting productive projects, local industries, employment and exports, and attracting new investments to local communities.

The tour also covered existing fertilizer and paper-industry projects and their expansion plans and export potential. The MDC CEO Mohammed Abu-Tayeh briefed the minister on the area's existing projects, development plans and efforts to improve services and infrastructure.

On Aug. 2 , the Cabinet approved a package of incentives for the Rawdah Industrial Zone to enhance its competitiveness and encourage new industrial projects.

Jordan has 20 development zones across the governorates. Investment in the zones rose from about JD 5.8 billion to nearly JD 6.9 billion in the first half of this year, an 18.79 percent increase, while employment grew from about 117,000 to nearly 123,000 workers, amid the attraction of new projects and the expansion of existing investments.
